Isabel Castro

Isabel Castro (born February 5, 1990) is a New York based photojournalist and documentarian as well as the co-founder of New York art blog The Tertulia. She received a B.A. in journalism and a B.F.A in photography and imaging at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. Her photographs have been published by the Associated Press and she has contributed work to the New York Times Lens Blog.
==Background==
Born in Mexico City, Mexico, Ms. Castro grew up in Darien, Connecticut. After interning for Whitewall, Marie Claire, and the New York Times Lens Blog, she began dedicating time to the Crossing Over Documentary in which she serves as director. Her photo essay on transgendered illegal immigrants was exhibited at New York University's Grey Art Gallery. Ms. Castro currently resides in Alphabet City.
